For the semester my brother is studying in London and my parents went to visit and invited me along. Although I have been to London a few times, this was the first that I explored the Covert Garden/Soho/Mayfair Area. Previously, I had always been in Shoreditch, Angel and even further east by the Greenwich peninsula for one of the festivals I was a part of, so, this was a completely new experience. Being on an extremely tight budget in Amsterdam, going somewhere with your parents is always a plus, here are some of my favorite places that we went -
For this trip we stayed at the Ham Yard Hotel. This is part of the Firmdale Hotel group and for anyone that has been to The Crosby in downtown NYC, this is basically the same thing. Beautiful rooms, marble bathrooms and a great restaurant that becomes packed at night with people enjoying drinks with their friends.
My favorite part of any trip. Here are the list of my favorites in London -
Borough Market - A market filled with a plethora of treats. Oysters, Duck Confit, Truffles and Beer. Go with an empty stomach and be prepared to leave in a food-coma.
Killer Cereal Cafe - A cereal cafe hidden away in the Camden Market. Although the market isn’t my favorite, I did enjoy the ambiance of the cereal cafe and the ability to have some of my favorite childhood cereals.
Engawa - A Petite and quite posh Japanese restaurant that surprises you with every dish.
The Ninth - French influenced Mediterranean food. Seriously, what’s not to like?
Dishoom - Anyone who has lived in London for a bit will tell you to go here. A extremely stylish restaurant serving Indian food and it always has line. Reservations are recommended.
Ozone Coffee Roasters - Awesome coffee, even better breakfast. If you find yourself in Shoreditch in the morning, this is the place to go.
Pizza East (Shoreditch) - Solid pizza. Prosciutto Cotto, Wild Mushroom, Tomato and Thyme.
